Carol passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at Grove Park Home in Barrie Ontario, in her 89th year. Born July 31, 1936 in East York, Ontario, to John and Dorothea Wood (nee Cole).
Carol Anderson, of Toronto, predeceased by her beloved husband Douglas Anderson (2017), son Jeffrey Anderson (2020) and grandson Scott Anderson (2020). Beloved mother to Robert and Christina (Powell) and David and Diane (Drysdale) and grandmother to Meredith, William, Michael, Marnie, Ben, James, Mac and great-grandmother to Gavin. She will be dearly missed by all.
Carol grew up in Peterborough Ontario and after a short attendance at the Ryerson School of Technology met her future husband Douglas and they were married on July 20, 1957. Carol became a mother of three sons, and turned her attention to raising her family. She lived in Toronto and when her three boys began school she worked at Sears in the ladies’ fashion department for 25 years. In 1975 Carol and Doug moved to Buckhorn Lake just north of Peterborough. Carol continued to work at Sears in Peterborough until her retirement. During her lifetime she was very artistic and was an exceptional seamstress, having made countless outfits for herself. She continued to enjoy her love of art and was active in the art program at Grove Park Home. In her retirement, Carol and Doug spent many winters in Florida keeping warm and enjoyed making new friends. Their summers were spent relaxing at the lake and enjoying their family.
Mom and Dad really enjoyed living at the lake. Mom said many times, “Everyday has a completely new sunset!” While mom has seen her final sunset, our memories and our love for her will never set.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated. (Donation Link Below)
