Evelyn Mae Koski

August 12, 2014-November 26, 2022

Evelyn Mae Koski, 8 years old, of Essa, Ontario, slept away peacefully on Saturday morning November 26, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Barrie Ontario, on August 12, 2014, daughter of Matt and Liisa Koski and resided in Essa, Ontario until she was called to eternal rest.

She is survived by her parents Matt and Liisa Koski, dear siblings Andrew and (Teryn) Koski and little nephew Tate of Outlook Saskatchewan, Matthew and (Jocelyn) Koski of Angus Ontario, Logan and (Mikayla) Koski of New Lowell Ontario, Lucas, Martha, Isaac, Lidia and Orrin Koski of Essa Ontario, grandparents Mauri and Irmeli Hotari of Angus Ontario, and Andrew and Irma Koski of Mulmur Ontario, many aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. She is predeceased by her baby cousins David Julian and Olivia Mae. She is also remembered fondly by many dear friends, teachers, and classmates of Baxter Central Public School and her community.

Evelyn enjoyed spending time outdoors and at the family cottage. She was a diligent and kind student. She was selflessly a constant companion to her dear sister Lidia and enjoyed being a playmate to her little brother Orrin. Home was the place where Evelyn loved to be, always creating pieces of art for her siblings and parents to enjoy, and she loved her little cousins and friends in her own sweet, shy manner.

She attended Baxter Central Public school in Baxter, Ontario.

In April, Evelyn was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer known as DIPG, which she received treatment for at Sick Kids Hospital and Princess Margaret in Toronto. As her condition deteriorated, she wished to remain at home surrounded by her family. She was able to spend all her time in the care of her parents and siblings in the place she wished to be.

Evelyn will be dearly remembered as a shy sweet girl who was always willing to help others. Her big heart, kind smile, forgiving nature and joyous laughter will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched.

Funeral service for Evelyn will be held on Thursday December 1st, at 1pm at Toronto Laestadian Lutheran Church, 5579 Cty Rd 27, Cookstown Ontario. Open visitation for all is from 12pm-1pm.

Private interment and memorial service will follow the service. Interment will be held at the Cookstown United Church Cemetery. Memorial service following interment will be arranged at the church.
