John Orton Benson

It is with great sadness that the family of John O. Benson announce his passing after bravely battling complications from diabetes and heart disease.  As with all times in his life, John was strong, courageous and dignified choosing to focus on sharing love with his family.  The family is grateful to Hospice Simcoe for the moments they were able to share with John shortly before his passing and the compassionate care from the team members. John leaves behind his wife Gilberta, sons Jonathan (Dee-Anne) and Allan, and daughters Pamela and Sandra.  Greatly missed by his sisters, nieces and nephews.  Fondly remembered by numerous friends, customers and community members.
Visitation at the  Paul F. Kent funeral home, Cookstown, ON on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 between 2-4 pm or 7-9 pm to share stories and celebrate John with his beloved family.  Family service to follow on Thursday, May 6th, 2021.  In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be considered to Hospice Simcoe, Barrie, ON.  Due to Covid - 19 restrictions please call the funeral home to book a time to visit the family at Wednesdays visitation.  (705-458-4402)
