Norm was born in Kincardine, Ontario and raised in Tiverton, Ontario. He developed a love of music at an early age and played the bagpipes, guitar, accordion, and piano. He entertained at various events and belonged to pipe bands throughout his life. His other love was swimming, where he would spend any spare time at Inverhuron on Lake Huron. In 1963, he joined the Ontario Provincial Police and he was a proud member for 36 years. He also was an OPP diver for 10 years. In his retirement years, he looked forward to weekends where he met friends with one of his classic cars for a cruise throughout Ontario. His favourite vacations were spending time at his Tobermory cottage or with family at Baie du Dore. He was an avid Leafs’ fan and always supported and cheered them on.
Throughout his life and career, he met many life-long friends who supported him on his life’s journey.
Janette, Scott, Jaime and Emily want to thank our family and friends who supported us these last few weeks with texts, emails, phone calls and meals. We also want to thank Simcoe County Paramedics and Essa Fire Department (Thornton) for their assistance as well as the staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital who were so kind, caring and compassionate to Norm during his time there.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
