Michael Arthur Brown of Cookstown, passed away peacefully on Friday September 20th, 2024. Beloved husband of Wendy Ground. Dearly missed by her sons Michael, Matthew (Mandy), Scott and Stephen (Nancy) and her grandchildren, Avery, Rachel, Colton and Wyatt. Loving father of Jennifer Fessey (Steve), Amy Beard (Anthony), Michelle Becks (Paul) and Paula McFadden (Kyle) and grampa of MacKenzie, Taylor, Graeme, Emma, Chloe and Cole.
Treasured brother of Ruth-Anne (Willi) and Susan (Mike) and predeceased by his brothers Daniel and baby Allen.
Mike was a funeral director in Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island until his election to the Ontario Legislature as Member of Provincial Parliament for Algoma-Manitoulin in 1987. During his 24 years at Queen’s Park in numerous roles, including Committee Chair and Member and was Speaker of the Legislature.
Visitation will be held at the Paul F Kent Funeral Home, 16 King Street, N. Cookstown on Tuesday September 24th from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 37 Church Street, Cookstown on Wednesday September 25th at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private family interment at a later date.
