Paul Moses Buttigieg
October 24th, 1946 – May 27th, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Moses Buttigieg, beloved husband, father, and friend, who left us peacefully on Tuesday May 27th, 2025, at the age of 78.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Sandy Giffen and his sons Glen Buttigieg (deceased), Shawn Giffen (Caren Dougall), Jimmy Goodman and many extended family members, friends, and colleagues in the racing community. Dear brother of Lucy Mercieca (Tony deceased), Stella Plock (Gerry Plock), Pauline Grills (Tony deceased), Doris Chatlani (Joseph), Joe Buttigieg (deceased) (Marilyn), Pasquale (Bosco) Buttigieg (deceased) (Pamela).
Paul was a devoted horseman whose life was inseparable from the rhythm of the farm and racetrack. A respected breeder and trainer of thoroughbreds, his passion for horses was matched only by his unwavering work ethic and grit. For decades, he poured his heart into every stride and every stable, building a legacy of integrity, perseverance, and love for the sport.
Public visitation will be located at Paul F Kent Funeral Home Ltd (16 King St N, Cookstown, ON L0L 1L0) on Sunday June 1st from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm.
A small private funeral will be held for the family members and immediate friends on Monday June 2nd, 2025 at the

Everyone is then welcome to come join us at 3:00 p.m. after the funeral where we will be raising a toast to Paul at the Cookstown Pub (52 Queen St W, Cookstown, ON L0L 1L0)
